"A
River Runs Through it"
Montana
has some of the best to offer in the way of fishing, camping,
hunting, hiking or whatever recreational activities you choose
when visiting NW Montana. Snappy's has been there for over
50 years helping people choose the right equipment to make the
most of their visit!
Each
and every day we strive to maintain and improve a world-class
operation. We offer top quality merchandise, very well
suited to the needs of the customer; excellent value; and a
shopping experience that is quite difficult to match. For 52
years now, tens of thousands of folks have benefited from our
Montana landmark store. We trust you will as well, and
thanks for visiting our site.
The
store specializes in sports equipment and apparel. It has a
very large fishing department (certainly one of the most
impressive in the country), a very large gun/shooting sports
department, an extensive camping and backpacking department, very
significant water sports and marine departments with an extensive
line of water skis and accessories, and comprehensive footwear and
team/athletic/ball sport departments.
Additional
features of the store include a very large gift shop known as "The
Montana Gift Company", specializing in unique Montana gift
items (many handmade); a world-class art gallery known as
"WildTracks", offering exceptional original oils, water
colors, pencils, charcoals, bronzes, wood carvings and prints -
most of which reflect the Western Montana environment of natural
beauty and wildlife; a spacious courtyard/park complete with a
beautiful trout pond, batting cages, and food court/activity area;
extensive taxidermy throughout the store, including elk,
whitetail deer, mule deer, moose, mountain goats, mountain sheep,
wolves, antelope, brown bear, Canadian geese, ducks, pheasants,
chuckars and more (some of this beautiful taxidermy is for sale -
most for display only).
The
store was founded in 1947 by Army Air Corps and World War II
veteran, Captain Verne Lupton and his partner Bob Englebach.
In 1978 ownership of the store succeeded to B.J. Lupton, who is
also a retired Captain in the United States Naval Reserve. A
third Montana generation is now involved in the store with B.J.'s
son Jonathan. The stores general manager is Dave Toelke, a
graduate of Montana State University and also very successful as a
guide/outfitter in his younger years.
