FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Below are some common questions we have gotten about the Osprey Pole, the Pond, and our courtyard in general. If you have any you'd like to ask please feel free to Contact Us.
why did you build all this?
Snappy's built the pond, courtyard, and osprey pole as a gift to our community. We wanted to provide a unique venue for education, enjoyment, and relaxation. This is our gift to the Flathead Valley community.
When will we see eggs and chicks?
Edit: WE HAVE AN EGG (as of 04/28/2016)
We have been told that usually eggs will show up the first part of May. After a 6-7 week gestation, then chicks will hatch. That usually happens in June. Typically a nest will have 2 eggs (1 or 3 happens occasionally). It will take another 52-62 days for the young to fledge (leave the nest). So we should have birds into July and maybe even August.

Why does the pond look so "gross"
Our pond is a living ecosystem. We have a lot of fish (and other animals occasionally) in our pond. That creates quite a bit of bio-matter. This is a very nutrient rich environment for algae to form. Occasionally you will notice we drop the water level in the pond. This is when it looks "the worst". We let the algae that has formed dry. Then we clean it out of the pond and fill it back with fresh clean water. This allows us to maintain clear, clean, and enjoyable water for all the activities in the pond.
