We haven't been quite as attentive this year with our Osprey as we had previous. That doesn't mean we love them any less. We have just had a busy summer. However I am very please to report that hasn't bothered Duke and Duchess any at all.
We noticed, once again this year, three eggs in the nest. If you remember, we did have three last year as well and only two hatched. I confirmed a couple of days ago, this year we have a 100% success rate. All three eggs have hatched and we have three chicks in the nest.
It must be quite a chore, because we are seeing much more involvement from both parents at the same time. We saw a bit of trade off last year and most often, just one of the parents was feeding or moving the chicks around. This year both Duke and Duchess are more attentive and spending more time double teaming on the newly hatched chicks.
We hope that all three chicks mature and successfully fledge this fall. We are all crossing our fingers and sending all our encouragement to Duke and Duchess. Stay tuned for a naming contest, as the three amigos will need names. Thank you for your patience with us and we are pleased that this camera idea has been such a hit.
