East Bay on Flathead Lake still no reports of good perch fishing yet. It has been quiet. There have been some catches of 5 to 10 fish in there but overall, slow this year.
Lake trout fishing on Flathead Lake still doing well. Woods Bay Point in the mornings trolling flatfish and Brad super baits doing well. West Shore State Park to Painted Rocks trolling in 80 to 100 feet doing well. The Flathead River mouth has been producing by jigging deep 120 to 150ft.
Kokanee fishing is hot everywhere. Try Lake Mary Ronan early morning out in front of Camp Tuffit. The Thompson Chain: Middle and Lower Thompson fishing well, trolling for big Kokanee. Bitterroot Lake doing well on the South end with jigging. Dickey Lake also doing well towards the boat launch.
Pike fishing on Swan Lake doing well with bait fish on the south end. Try Fennon Slough and Church early in the morning on jerk baits. Middle and Lower Thompson fishing well in The Bays.
Bass fishing has been excellent. Try Echo Lake for good Smallmouth. Fish are moving up on their beds. Flathead River sloughs doing well also. Thompson Chain has good reports for Largemouth.
Perch fishing on Lower and Upper Stillwater doing well. Also try Upper Thompson and Blanchard Lake.
For fly-fishing try Rogers for a nice grayling and cutthroat. Wooly Buggers and Prince Nymphs seem to be doing well. Try Thompson River, it is up high but clear and fishing well for rainbows and browns.
The Blackfeet reservation has opened. We have been getting good reports of big fish coming out of Mission and nice fish coming out of Dog Lake.
All rivers and streams do open third Saturday in May. Most rivers and streams will be high, but they are open to fish with some regulations. Be sure to check your regulations for specifics.
