Same areas to try: Old Steel Bridge, Hwy 35 Bridge, Old Red Bridge in Columbia Falls to Pressentine Bar. Trout fishing has been very good as well. Fly fisherman use your small streamers. For those using a spin rod, try small gold Little Cleo’s. The lower end of the Flathead River near Sportsman’s Bridge is seeing some nice Lake Trout along with a few Pike and Rainbows. Flathead Lake
Excellent Lake Trout action casting along any points, islands or shelfs. Best bet is North or South of West Shore State Park. Also give Rocky Point, Bird Island and Finely Point a shot. For your spoons try Kamloopers , Little Cleos, or Pot-O-Golds. Seeing the fish at 15’-30’ depths. Swan Lake Excellent Lake Trout trolling and jigging along the highway side. Try 30’-50’ of water and use large spoons. For Rainbow, troll Rapala’s or Flicker Shads along the shoreline – 5’-15’ of water in the early mornings or late afternoon. Koocanusa Rainbow fishing is picking up. Try trolling flies behind planer boards or long line and large plugs. Hearing between Rexford and the bridge is the best bet. Bitterroot Lake The Rainbows are starting to hit when trolling large flies on planner boards or you could also try Rapalas. Also hearing reports of a few Salmon trolling on the South End down about 30’-40’. Whitefish Lake Lake Trout action is getting good along shelfs and points. Try casting large spoons and spinners in 15’-30’ of water. Look for your Pike in the deep weed edges with your dead bait. There have been no Ice Reports yet.
