Check regs for size and quantity. BE CAREFUL! Flathead Lake and Sloughs: Lake Trout try Woods Bay off the point and rocky outcrops. Whitefish are still moving up the river but sketchy. The sloughs are starting to cap over, BE CAREFUL. Lake Koocanusa:
Salmon fishing (no recent reports) try trolling with wedding rings 30 to 50'. For jigging use Hailey’s. For the big Rainbows in the early morning troll with Berkley Flicker shad, Lyman lures and flies. Swan Lake: Salmon trolling (no recent reports) try wedding rings and small spoons. Rainbow trolling the shoreline in the early morning and evenings, use spinners, spoons and shallow running crankbaits. Pike, fishing near the weed beds and the river mouth on the south end of the lake. Lake Mary Ronan: Perch fishing near the weed beds, jigging seems to be doing the best. Trolling for trout around the shore line in the early morning try spinners and shallow running crankbaits. Salmon fishing (no recent reports) try trolling with wedding rings and jigging with Hailey’s 30 to 40'. Echo Lake: Bass fishing has slowed down - fish deep. Smallmouth have been hitting swimbaits. Perch fishing around the weed beds try Pete’s tackle. Pike (no recent reports) try fishing around the weed beds with spinners, spoons, swim baits and large bait. Thompson Lakes: Perch fishing has slowed down try small jigs and Pete's tackle and forage minnows. Trout fishing around the shore line in the morning and in the middle of the lake in the PM. Trolling with spinners, spoons and shallow running crankbaits. Bitterroot Lake: Salmon trolling 25 to 40' in the early morning. Try wedding rings and cow bells. Bass fishing around the rocky shore line and drop-offs. Try drop-shotting, Texas rigging and squarebills. For large trout trolling with large spoons and Lyman lures. Ashley Lake: Salmon - no recent reports. Try trolling or jigging in the early morning 25 to 40'. Jigging for perch in the weed beds. Try forage minnows and Pete’s tackle. Smallmouth Bass have been active on rocky drop off points. Try drop-shotting, Texas rigging and squarebills. For the large trout try trout trolling with large spoons and Lyman lures. Flathead River: USGS Columbia Falls: Discharge: 3740 cfps. Water Temp: 39 to 39.5 deg. Fly fishing: Try large nymphs and streamers.

My fishing buddy (son) and I attempted to go to Echo for ice fishing. When we got there it had water on the small patches of ice build up. It simply isnt safe yet to step a foot on. We decided on Lake 5 instead.
