Lake Trout are starting their spawn. Trolling and gigging near rocky outcrops. Whitefish are in the river, try small tube jigs, Pete’s craws and drop-shotting. Perch fishing has picked up in the sloughs try Pete’s tackle. Lake Koocanusa: Salmon fishing no recent report try trolling with wedding rings 30 to 40' for jigging use Hailey’s. For the big Rainbows in the early morning troll with Berkley Flicker shad, Lyman lures and flies. Swan Lake: Salmon trolling no recent report try wedding rings and small spoons. Rainbow trolling the shoreline in the early morning and evenings, use spinners, spoons and shallow running crankbaits. For Perch use small jigs and bait. Check regs for size and quantity. Bitterroot Lake: Salmon trolling 15’ to 35' in the early morning, try wedding rings and cow bells. Bass fishing around the rocky shore line and drop-offs try drop-shotting, Texas rigging and square bills. For large trout trolling with large spoons and Lyman lures. Ashley Lake: For Salmon try trolling or jigging in the early morning 15 to 35'. Jigging for perch in the weed beds try forged minnows and Pete’s tackle. Smallmouth Bass have been active on rocky drop off points. Try drop-shotting, Texas rigging and square bills. For the large try trout trolling with large spoons and Lyman lures. Flathead River: USGS Columbia Falls: Discharge: 3810 fps. Water Temp: 45 to 48. Fly fishing: Try nymphs and terrestrials, stimulators, hoppers, caddis, and streamers.
