The Whitefish are HOT! Good areas to try are North End: Delta – Flathead River mouth, Woods Bay Point, Caroline Point and Conrad Point. If you are on the South End try Elmo and Big Arm bays. We are hearing good things about Skidoo Bay, Bird Islands, and the Narrows as well. Depths: Try 35’-50’. Early mornings are usually the best time. Pete’s Tackle – Whitefish Slayers, Zimmer Rattle D’Zasters, and Rattle Snakies are all killing them. 3/8oz – 1/2oz in Green Colors.
The main stem is starting to slow down. Small Dry flies are still doing ok and would be your best bet. The South Fork above the reservoir is still excellent. Try using Stimulators, Humpy, and Hoppers. The Middle Fork north is still fishing pretty well too. Steve recommends using Purple Haze, Humpys , and Wolf patterns.
Kokanee action is good in the early mornings (daylight to about 10AM). Trolling lead core or down riggers to 35’-50’. Small dodgers with Micro Squid or Cowbells (with ring spinners). Trout fishing has slowed. Best to try late evening with large plugs.
Kokanee reports have been decent. Some fish up to 12”. Try trolling Flashlite Trolls with small LMR Flies. Rexford area has been very good.
Lake Mary Ronan
Kokanee fishing at night with lights has been excellent. Perch in the early mornings seem to be sitting 25’-30’ of water. Try Northland Forage Minnows and Swedish Pimples. We are hearing some reports of Large Mouth Bass as well.
Upper Thompson Lake
Good Perch in the early morning. Hanging right about 15’-30’. Try near island or in the middle section of the lake.
Lots of keeper Perch (8”-12”). Also catching quite a bit of smaller Pike. Try using Pete’s Crappie Candy in pink or white.
