The cooling trend this past week has increased fish activity. Low pressure systems are a great time to get out and fish. Go early and stay late.
Try trolling for Salmon 20ft down with a 3-blade cow bell and a Dick Nite spoon tipped with maggots for good success. For some of the Rainbows, try pulling a white and purple Plug It lure behind an 8in flasher.
Reports of a few decent Perch & Pike coming in along with some Sunnies. Jig a Rat Funke with maggots in the heavy lilly pads for best results.
Look for fish moving up from deeper water to feed. Try out new color patterns of DareDevils to go after the Northerns. Crappie are also on the move, so focus on submerged structure and cast a beetle spin.
Dry Bridge Pond
Good spot to take the kids fishing. Use a green marshmallow under a bobber for best results.
Reports of decent Pike near the entrance. The use of top water lures like a Whopper Plopper in early mornings and evenings is productive. Crappie action is slow so be on the move.
The Whitefish bite is in full swing. Elmo is still the best spot for bigger fish and more consistent. Woods Bay over to Caroline Point are great in the mornings and early afternoons. Use Pete’s Slayers in disco green.
Use Caution as water levels are dropping!
North Fork – Use a Nymph behind a hopper pattern.
Middle Fork – Green Humpies work well thrown behind large rocks.
South Fork – Great fishing by Spotted Bear down to the Reservoir. Try an olive Wooley Bugger for bigger fish.
Reports of decent Salmon. Trolling with a Sepps Dodger and a Hoochie Mama 15ft below the surface seems to be the ticket.
Hungry Horse Reservoir
Graves Bay is fishing very well. A Panther Martin with a silver blade and a small ball of PowerBait seems to be working well. Cast and let is sink deep, then a slight jig and retrieve.
Another good week for Salmon. Jig with a Zimmer Wanna Be tipped with corn. Adjust your depth when schools move through.
Lake Mary Ronan
Fish for Perch in front of Mountain View Resort. Drop shot a vertical jig like a Demon Jig and chunks of worm in 18ft of water. No recent reports of Salmon.
Fishing reports say to fish by the train tracks in 20-25ft of water for nice Perch. Jig with a Forage Minnow and a whole leech.
Lure in a nice Pike with some new color patterns of DareDevils. Work these aggressively around weed beds. Cast and reel Pete’s Crappie Candy for Perch along the Southern side.
Salmon has picked up some, so pull cow bells and a Dick Nite spoon 30ft down for best results.
Great Greyling fishing this past week. Use a small rainbow pattern Kastmaster. Fly fish with a red Humpy early in the morning.
Shady Lane Pond
Another good spot for kids. Throw a white coach dog Rooster Tail or use a simple worm under a bobber.
