Warm weather is here! We are starting to get some open water now.
Open water. Hearing reports of Pike mostly. Use your smelt or spinnerbaits.
All lakes are ice free. We haven’t heard any reports yet.
Open water. No reports yet.
Loon / Horseshoe Lake (Ferndale)
Lakes are open. Catching a few Rainbows in Loon. Try Horseshoe for Smallmouth.
Still a bit of ice out on the lake. However warm weather should be taking care of that quickly.
Still frozen over. But I wouldn’t trust the ice at this point.
Still frozen. Haven’t heard any reports on the ice conditions recently.
Perch fishing is excellent. Try for the East end of the bay. Use Pete’s Crappie Candy, Gitzits or small Twister Tails tipped with worms. Don’t forget the limit on Perch. 10 fish over 10”. Unlimited under 10”. They are checking, so don’t forget your measure tape.
Excellent fishing for Lake Trout in the Delta area, 15’-30’ of water. Also seeing them at 60-80’ in the deeper depth. Use Pete’s Whitefish Slayers or Zimmer Rattle D’zastors. West Shore to Painted Rocks still good. Jigging and Trolling 150’-180’. Boat launches are open at West Shore, Sommers Bay, Wayfarers, Yellow Bay, Blue Bay, Elmo and Big Arm.
Flathead River (Upper Section & North Fork)
Fishing well for Cutthroats & Mountain Whitefish. Try small nymphs, streamers and San Juan worms.
Flathead River Sloughs
All Open – Church, Fennon, Halfmoon, and Rose Creek. All ice free, might be a bit tough to get in to with the lower water, but they are all starting to fish for Bass, Pike and Crappie.
The Trout are starting to pick up, but the water is very low. Try the launch at Peck Gulch or near the dam. Troll your Rapalas or Flies off planar boards.
