The ice is finally starting to melt! Put you ice buckets away and get your nets out!

Flathead Lake
Fishing well for Lake Trout. The docks are in at West Short State Park, Sommers Bay and Wayfarers State Park. Fishing the delta is turning out good numbers of big Lake Trout and some Pike. Fish with whole dead fish on bottom: 15’-30’ water. Also cast large spoons or jigs. They are still catching some Lake Whitefish using Pete’s Whitefish Slayers as well.

South End

Getting reports that East Bay is picking up for Perch. Try 1-1/2’-3’ water with small jigs and Pete’s Crappie Candy tipped with worms.

Rocky Point, Yellow Bay Point and The Narrows are all jigging well for the Lake Trout.

West Short State Park to Painted Rocks is still doing well trolling 150’-180’ with Flat Fish.
Koocanusa
Water level is VERY LOW. The only boat launches are Peck Gulch and near the dam. Trolling spoons and plug; mostly Bull Trout right now. Water temps need to come up a bit for trout.

Thompson River
Fly Fishing well in the lower end for Browns. Try the San Juan worms. Spinners: Try Panther Martin #4 in gold or red/gold.

Flathead Indian Reservation
Most lakes are opening down there. Look for good Bass on Ninepipes and Pablo reservoirs.

Other lakes that are open around the valley:
Church Slough:
Just opened. Water is still a bit low to launch a boat, so most people are using a car topper boat that can be walked out.

Fennon Slough:
Water is open, but still pretty low to get in. Although hearing reports of a few bass here and there.

Halfmoon Slough:
Open water. Hearing reports of Pike.

McWenneger Slough:
Open water. No reports yet, but people are fishing it.

Noxon Reservoir:
Starting to cat some Pike, Bass and Walleye. The whole reservoir is open at this point.

Most lakes West of town are starting to open up, but not quite there yet.

Latest reports are telling us Echo still has ice covering it. However that ice is probably not very safe at this point.
