Church Slough Ice is getting thicker and the Crappie are starting to show up. Early morning or evenings are best. Try using Glow Demon Jigs. Reports of Pike that are suspended 4ft below the ice. Around 8” of ice. Snow drifts are deep in spots. Great place to take the family Perch fishing. Try in front of boat launch using Snare Spoons. Whitefish have been caught in 30-40ft. Flathead Lake Somers Bay is frozen enough for those who walk out. Use Pete’s Slayers for Whitefish and a ball head jig, Twister Tail and small cut bait for Lake Trout. Although the Salmon fishing has been slow, reports of 14” being caught. Hali Jigs are producing suspended fish. Bitterroot Lake North end has 10” of ice in spots. South End around 6” and the middle has about 4”. Salmon seems to be better on South End in 60’ of water. Perch has been hard to find but focus on 24-30’ deep. Stillwater Lake The ice is thick, and snow is deep! Good numbers of Perch by the islands in 8-10’ of water. Know your limit on size and numbers of Perch. 3-5lb Pike being caught as well. Smith Lake Great place to take the family fishing! Lots of Pike being caught. The Perch fishing has slowed but be persistent and ger rewarded. Know your limit of size and numbers of Perch! Swan Lake Reports are coming in of people fishing both ends. No reports of fish being caught. Thompson Chain Drifting snow on top of ice so be careful of pockets of slush. Decent Pike coming out of the lake on the North West end. **Weekly Tip** When fishing is slow, use two poles. Take one and tie a search lure like a Flutter Spoon on and get aggressive with it. The second pole should be used as a dead stick, tip-up, or Jaw Jacker with your favorite bait/lure. Fish are drawn in by the flashing search lure and then find your second lure and bite!
