Please be very careful! Ice conditions can change daily this time of year. Bring your ice picks, safety rope, ice cleats and your fishing buddy. Remember 4” of GOOD SOLID ice is best for adult, 6-8” for and ATV and at least 12” for larger ATV/UTV and Trucks!

Bitterroot Lake:
4-6” good ice at the North and South end of the lake. Hearing good numbers of Salmon on South End, but smaller fish. North End has bigger fish, up to 3lb, but not quite the numbers.

Ashley lake:
4-8” of ice on the whole lake. Hearing some Salmon and Perch action along the West side and North East end. Try Hali jig tipped with wax worm. Also some Rainbow being caught as well.
Middle Thompson:
4-6” of ice with some areas having less. Good numbers of Perch, up to 13”, in 40-50’ water. Try Tingler Spoons or Forage Minnows. Also good Salmon coming through around 25’.

Lake Mary Ronan:
10” of good ice. Lots of Perch near Sunken Island or Camp Tuffit. Set your line at 20’ with a Small Demon Jig tipped with maggots for your best bet.

Lower Stillwater:
Good ice and lots of smaller Pike, 2-5lb. Use Smelt or Herring. Good numbers of nice Perch on the Upper End. Try Pete’s Slab Slayers.

Echo Lake:
8” of ice. Lots of Lake Whitefish and a few good Perch along with some Smallmouth Bass. No word on the Salmon yet.

Lake Five:
Still good on lots of smaller Salmon.

Church Slough:
Few good Pike and some Crappie at night.

Island Lake:
Lots of small Pike and fillet size Perch.

Rodger Lake:
Few small Grayling. Some very nice Cutthroat in the late afternoons.

Swan Lake:
Some good ice near the highway side of lake. Catching some nice Lake Trout and few Salmon.

Flathead River:
Upper section from Old Steel Bridge to Columbia Falls is fishing very well for Cutts and Rainbows. Fly Fishing using large Wooly Bugger & Streamers.
Snappy’s FREE LMR Derby is Feb 17th. Sign up at Snappy’s fishing counter. Lots of great fun. We will be running it out of Mountain Meadows Resort this year.

We are hearing that the good numbers are coming from about 30' over any deep water. The larger guys are quite deep. Hope this helps.
