Please be very careful! Ice conditions can change daily this time of year. Bring your ice picks, safety rope, ice cleats and your fishing buddy. Remember 4” of GOOD SOLID ice is best for adult, 6-8” for and ATV and at least 12” for larger ATV/UTV and Trucks
Lake Mary Ronan:
8”-10” of ice. Most of the ice will continue to setup well with the colder nights. Perch action has been good for nice fish – 9-12”. They are hitting in 20’ water – jigging spoons in Forage Minnow, Tingler Spoons or small Pimples. Salmon action has been slow with a few fish in the early mornings. Please still be careful on the ice as early this week still had some open spots.
Various ice depth reports – 5”-8”. Hearing a few Salmon reports on the West shore and in some of the bays.
Good number of nice Perch – 8”-12”. The ice conditions are good. Look for Pike in the bays. Also, some good Trout action near the East end.
Middle Thompson:Ice conditions vary from 2”-4”. Some good Perch action in 40’ depths in front of Logan State Park.
Various ice conditions – 3”-7”. Some Lake Trout action near the highway down 60’-80’.
5”-7” with some slush. Watch for spring holes. Good Crappie action in the late evenings into dark or early mornings. Some good Pike also using large dead fish.
5”-8” of ice. Good Whitefish action. Few Salmon and some Perch.
Crystal Lake:Good Salmon action in the early mornings out in front of State Access.
Hearing good Perch numbers on the upper end above the islands. Check your depths 6’-15’. Also, some Pike and Lake Trout action as well.
Blanchard Lake:5”-8” of ice. Good Pike, some Crappie in the early mornings. Hearing scattered reports of Bass and Perch.
Excellent Salmon fishing. Use your Hali jigs tipped with maggots.
Bitterroot Lake:The North end is fishable. Main lake is still a bit thin. Few Salmon up on the North end.
Good Cutthroat action in the late evenings pulling in some big fish. Few Graylings, a bit on the smaller side – 10”-12”.
The upper stretch from Columbia Falls to Old Steel Bridge is fly fishing well using your Wooly Buggers. Seeing mostly Cutts and Rainbows.
East Bay – Flathead Lake:
Good numbers of nice Perch. 1-1/2’– 2’ depth. Just watch for spring holes!
