Happy New Year! Awesome news of ice building on many lakes, but rain and warm winds/temps can change those conditions daily. So please take safety precautions to ensure a fun fishing day!
Ashley Lake
No reports of ice or fish activity.

Bitterroot Lake
North end of lake has 3-4in in the bay with rainbows, salmon and perch being caught on Gitzit’s and Swedish Pimples tipped with wax worms. Check ice however as high winds and rain forecast could reduce ice in a hurry!

Blanchard
Has 5-7in of ice. Pete’s Sassy Stingers and Venom glow jigs are getting nice perch & crappie. A few nice pike being caught on smelt using Jaw Jackers.

Church Slough
Some fishable ice, but very sketchy areas so you may want to wait for next cold snap to venture out there.
Flathead Lake
Nice lake trout being caught trolling with glow flashers trailing a FLC fly. Fish have gone deeper post spawn so fish the 100-150ft depths.

Flathead River
Whitefish bite has slowed dramatically. Anglers are still having luck with lakers, cuts and bows.

Fennon Slough
Ice conditions are not good currently for those with access.

Dog Lake
Good perch fishing reported with 5-8in of ice. Small PK Tungsten jigs and various Ratfinkee jigs working well tipped with maggots or wax worms.

Foys Lake
Ice is not safe if there is any left.

Lake Mary Ronan
6in of good ice with 3in of slush on top. Great fishing for perch, salmon and rainbows. Hali’s, small tungsten jigs and Pete’s Tackle have been the ticket. 100yds off the State Park access has been good. Maggots & wax worms have been the baits to use.

Lake Five
5-6in of ice with some slush. Reports of a few decent perch using Johnson Snare Spoon’s and Berkley Tungsten jigs. Salmon being caught on Hali’s.

Lower Stillwater
7-10in of ice and some slush. Perch fishing is good with Eagle Claw tungsten glow jigs with Backwater plastics tipped with wax worms. Rainbows hitting glow Rat Finke’s tipped with monster grubs! Folks with Jigging Jaw Jackers slamming pike of all sizes.

Little McGregor
5-6in of ice. Great perch fishing for small to mid-sized perch.

Thompson Chain
Lower – 5in of ice with 3-4in of slush. Edges are a little rough. Perch fishing is good if you can find them. Forage Minnows, Pete’s Tackle and Backwater Baits working well.
Middle – Just capped. Not safe as of now.
Upper – 4-5in of ice with slush. Big pike being caught using smelt & tip-ups.

Rodgers Lake
4-5in of ice. Fishing nice for cutties and grayling. Rat Finkes tipped with maggots being the ticket right now.

Van Lake
5in of ice with 3-4in of snow on top. Nice rainbows being caught with Swedish Pimples, Rat finke’s and Sitka Smelt Stick lures.
