We have been watching and waiting for Duke and Duchess to come back. Just last night we checked and nothing.... then this morning... still nothing. However at 8:45AM Duchess arrived! We are off to another year with our Osprey. Can't wait to see what this year brings.

Is this the first year that Duchess arrived before Duke? I am worried that something has happened to Duke.

I saw her this morning after breakfast with the girls @ Perkins! That was 7:20 a.m. So happy to see her again.

I'm getting concerned for Duke! If he doesn't return I wonder how long she will wait before she finds a new mate? Still hoping for Duke!

We are waiting just like you are. We have been told it is common that one or the other arrives first. Could be several days apart. I know in Missoula the pair is back together. However the nests around the Flathead are still like ours. We are just keeping our eyes open.

Yippee!! I was getting caught up on the blog & started from the top. Was getting worried till I got to the bottom & read "he's home". Such a joy to watch and enjoy the arrival of spring & summer with these majestic birds!

There are at least 2 eggs now. Not sure when the 2nd egg was laid. Does anyone know?

OMG, I "peeked" in on D & D just now & what timing. Dutchess was on the eggs, Duke flew in, Dutchess got up (still 3 eggs), then to my amazement Duke engaged Dutchess and nature quickly took over! So maybe egg 4 will arrive soon! A bit embarrassed for catching them in a private moment, except its exciting to witness this part of nature in my 3rd year of observation.

Is one of the chicks smaller than the other two or is the camera angle just showing one being smaller? Sure hope they all survive!!

Does appear that one of the chicks is a bit smaller than the others. We did have a bit of a delay before the last egg hatched, so we are hoping that is what we are seeing and that it will grow to match the other two.

I was late getting to the sight this year. How wonderful! Three more chicks and Mom and Dad.
