Reports have been saying the salmon bite is slow. Expect that to change by the weekend with a cold front moving in. Jig the entire water column for suspended fish moving through. Beaver Lake Last week was good for rainbows for those that went out. Anglers were using a Rapala Countdown CD3 in a rainbow pattern. They also reported great luck with Little Cleo’s in a silver/green spoon. Church Slough Good success in small to medium sized northerns. Smelt on a hanger rig works best. Use a second pole rigged with a search lure (DareDevil) to bring them in. Crappie have been hit or miss, but lots of perch in the process. Thank You To All Our First Responders!

Ashley Lake Salmon fishing has been moderate so keep after them using a Hali Jig. If you troll, use a small dodger and a pink Dick Nite spoon. Try getting down to 20ft below the surface. Blanchard Lake Good Perch action and Sunfish. Try using a Trick Tackle under spin jig with a Back Water Crawdad. Cast and retrieve this combo around lily pads. Some decent Northerns using a pike hanger rig and pea mouth. Church Slough Reports of a few decent pike around the inlet. Red/White or hammered copper DareDevils work best. Lots of small perch also so be moving around the schools for the bigger fish. 406-756-BAIT (2248) | 756BAIT.comThis coming week should see some changes in fish behavior. Some species are slowing down, while others will increase activity. Make sure you are mobile and move often when the bite slows.

Blanchard Lake A few reports of decent Pike action. Try our new line of Berkley Swim Baits for good results. Also try a Husky Jerk in a bass pattern. Church Slough Perch fishing is great once located. Pete’s Cactus Candy jig and a Crappie Candy are a good way to catch bigger fish. Once a second pole, use frozen pea mouth on a pike hanger rig under a bobber to catch Northerns. |
