Ashley Lake Good numbers of Salmon, although they are around 10-12in. Trolling action has been good using a Dodger and a Hoochie Mama tipped with corn and maggots. Jigging is good if you can locate the large schools. Beaver Lake (Whitefish) Reports of a few nice Salmon jigging 15ft below the surface. Use Zimmer Tackle tipped with maggots. Rainbows have been tricky but a Brown Trout pattern Rapala is working best.

Excellent Smallmouth Bass action. Try running a Wacky Worm on a drop shot rig for best results. Also try top water frogs later in the evening. Koocanusa Good trolling action on the trout. Run a PlugIt lure at least 200yds behind the boat. Pay attention to sonar for depth changes. Salmon has been good all week using a glow white/pink Hali with maggots. Lake Mary Ronan Jig with glo hooks tipped with corn in about 20ft of water. Focus towards the South end. Perch Bite has been good this past week. Ashley Lake Reports of Rainbows being caught in shallower water. Cast a yellow/red dot Kamlooper spoon and a sporadic jig and retrieve pattern. Bitterroot Lake The Smallmouth action is heating up on the North end. Jerk baits are a great way to cover a lot of water. Expect slower fishing by the weekend as a cold front will be moving in. Fish will be spread out and close to structure. Downsize your bait presentation.
Ashley Lake Salmon bite has been good. Look for schools using sonar and begin jigging with a Hali jig tipped with corn and maggots. Depth varies so work most of the water column from 15ft to 40ft down. Bitterroot Lake Troll for Rainbows using a Plug It lure in a purple pattern. Very effective when pulled at 1.5mph using planer boards or let out around 200yd behind the boat to avoid prop wash. |
