Hearing reports with good numbers of Lake Trout starting to show up. Try Brad’s Super Baits Fire Tiger 3” behind some flashers. A few Lake Whitefish showing up near the Delta, a bit hit & miss though. Try the South End of the lake for Perch and Smallmouth Bass. Flathead River – Main Stem Starting to look good. Green water coming down and clearing up nicely. Hearing reports of nice fish hitting the San Juan Worms or small wet flies. The forks are starting to clear up as well. South Fork – Flathead River Above the reservoir is looking better. Still high but clearing up nicely.

The river is starting to green up some and come down a bit. Another week or two and things should really pick up on the main stem South Fork (Below Hungry Horse) The water is high, but we are hearing a few decent reports on the cutts. Hungry Horse Reservoir Try fishing the tributary creeks for cutts. Pautzke Salmon Eggs are great. Also give small spoons in gold or hammered copper a shot. Lake Mary Ronan Salmon fishing is still good. Best in the early morning or night bites. Perch fishing is doing well also. Try near Camp Tuffit or Sunken Island. Good Bass too. Don’t forget the Bass restriction May 19th to June 30th for all Western Montana – Only ONE Bass over 22”. |
